About Judge Shaun Babeu

Rooted in Service, Guided by Integrity

Shaun Babeu is a husband, father, Army veteran, and longtime public servant who lives in Queen Creek and San Tan Valley with his wife Brandy and their children Savannah and Matthew.

Shaun believes that every person who walks into the courtroom deserves to be treated with respect, to have the law clearly explained, and to receive fair consideration of the facts. That means being on time, being prepared, and being fully present, case after case.

He has served as Justice of the Peace since January 1, 2011 and currently serves as Presiding Justice for all six Justice Courts in Pinal County. His court serves San Tan Valley and the Pinal County portion of Queen Creek. Since opening the new Pioneer Justice Court facility in 2019, his team has worked hard to provide professional, respectful service to every resident. In Fiscal Year 2025 alone, the court handled 15,909 cases.

  • Believes courtrooms should be a place where people feel heard, respected, and treated fairly

  • Keeps cases moving efficiently while giving each matter the time and attention it deserves

  • Upholds the Constitution and applies the law consistently

  • Serves the community with integrity and professionalism

  • Committed to protecting fairness, order, and trust in our local justice system

Judge Babeu is proud to serve and is running for his fifth term to continue protecting fairness, order, and trust in our local justice system.

Justice of the Peace

What a Justice of the Peace Actually Does

The Justice of the Peace court is often the first and only court that many residents will ever interact with, handling real-world issues that affect everyday life in our community.

While responsibilities can vary by jurisdiction, typical Justice of the Peace duties may include:

  • Hearing civil disputes involving individuals, neighbors, and small businesses
  • Handling certain traffic and misdemeanor matters
  • Presiding over landlord–tenant and eviction cases
  • Performing marriage ceremonies when requested
  • Issuing certain orders and documents authorized by law

Because these cases are so personal, the character and temperament of the Justice of the Peace matter. Residents within the San Tan Valley Pioneer Court deserve someone who listens carefully, explains clearly, and decides fairly. That is the standard Shaun has brought to the bench since 2011.
